The story behind the soaps
“There is, no I can't. There's only, I want to. ” This is the philosophy of 40-year-old Vasilis Douros, who started his own company in Tripolis in the center of Peloponnese, just when the Greek economy was shaking.
The origin of the name Snob Duck: it was inspired by his stay in the ski resort in Kalavryta. “I used to live next door to a boarding house with a lot of ducks in the yard. Every morning when I left home to work, they followed me, but at the same time they didn't let me get close to them. And we must also remember that ducks are a symbol of cleanliness. "
“I use the cold method for my products. I am using two bases. The first contains the oils I use, such as olive, coconut, and almond oil, and the other contains water and sodium hydroxide. Sometimes I use fruit or herbal juices instead of water. When I mix these materials I blend them slowly and 'saponification' starts. This means that soda reacts with the oils and the soap starts to thicken, it becomes more viscous, like honey. "
He then pours the mixture into molds and let it sit for a whole day until it sets. The next day he cuts it up and puts it on shelves to ripen. Maturation is necessary because all liquid substances have to evaporate so that the soap is ready for use.
